The alternate Start menu is not quite as user-friendly, but it offers quick access to some of the most important areas of the system, including the Device Manager utility, the command prompt window and the old legacy Control Panel. You can access the Task Manager as well as the system search and the Run box from here too.
The alternate Start menu can be launched by right-clicking on the Start menu button or by pressing 'Win+X'.
